Scenario
You are using Exclaimer and would like to add a background image to your signature template.
Resolution
You can upload image files as backgrounds in table elements. The images then display behind any other elements added on top.
NOTE: The recommended width for a background image is 600px wide. Uploading images that do not meet this value can cause your background image to not display correctly. To check your image size and resize it if necessary, see our image re-sizing guide.
To add a background image to your signature template:
- Open your signature in the Signature Designer and, from the menu pane, expand Tables.
- Drag the Custom... table onto the canvas.
The Tables section of the menu pane contains the Custom table element.
- Set the Columns and Rows values to 1 and select OK.
The Custom table window contains the Columns and Rows values.
- Select the 1x1 table. In the Properties pane, expand the Background section and select UPLOAD IMAGE.
The Background section of the Properties pane.
- Choose your image file and select Open.
WARNING! Using background images will render the signature as a bitmap - this is to ensure the image can be viewed by all mail clients and devices. This embeds any externally linked images and text without a fixed width will not wrap. In rare circumstances, this can affect custom fonts, signature quality, or signature display - for more information on troubleshooting bitmap signatures, see our Solutions resources.Select YES on the Confirm window to proceed.
The Confirm window is shown when you add an image. Read the information on the Confirm window before proceeding.
- From the Properties pane, expand the Size section and adjust the Width and Height values until the image is correctly displayed.

NOTE: The recommended width for a background image is 600px. -
To overlay other elements on your background image, drag the elements within the border of the image. 'Nested' elements will show within the colored lines. For more information on layering elements, see Colored borders in Exclaimer Signature Designer.
