Description
The Social Media Strip element is a group of icons with hyperlinks for social media channels, including Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter/X, that you can personalize and add to your email signature.
How to access it
To access the Social Media Strip signature element:
- Open your signature in the Signature Designer.
For more information, see how you can select a signature to edit.
- From the toolbox, expand Social Media and select the Social Media Strip element.
The Social Media Strip element is located in the Social Media section.

To add a Social Media Strip element to the signature:
- Drag and drop the Social Media Strip element onto the canvas.
Drag the element to any area of the canvas.
This opens the Social Media Strip window.
The Social Media Strip window displays the customization options.

Under Icon, select social media icons from the drop down list.
A wide variety of popular media site icons are available. The hyperlink will be connected to the chosen icon.
- Under Link, enter URL addresses for your social feeds.
To make your hyperlink dynamic depending on user data stored in attributes from Active Directory for Microsoft 365 or Google Directory for Google Workspace, enter /{ at the end of the URL and select your attribute from the drop down. For more information on using attribute fields to store user data, see Manage User Data.
An example of hyperlinks using attribute data to make dynamic content, such as company-specific social media pages.
- To add alternate text to show if the image cannot be displayed, enter your text under Alt.
- To add more icons, select ADD {FIELD}. To remove an icon, select the bin icon.
NOTE: You can add up to a maximum of 10 icons. - Select a layout option under Select the layout to use for the selected icons.
Select Horizontal to display your social media icons horizontally.
Horizontal icons are displayed next to each other.
Select Vertical to display your social media icons vertically.
Vertical icons are diplayed above and below one another.
- Select OK to confirm your choices and close the window, or select Cancel to return to the canvas without saving.
To remove a Social Media Strip:
- To remove the entire Social Media Strip, select the outer border of the strip then select DELETE from the Properties pane.
- To remove a single icon from a Strip, select the border of the single icon within the strip then select DELETE from the Properties pane.
NOTE: The coloured lines around the canvas and elements show the borders of each piece of content. The outermost coloured line of a group of elements selects all the content within. For more information on canvas borders, see Coloured borders in the Exclaimer Signature Designer.

Social Media Icon properties
Social Media Icon properties are used to adjust the appearance of the icon.
Background |
Enter or select the background colour of the icon element. Brand Color 1 and Brand Color 2 appear in the color picker and contain color choices set on the Branding screen. If you change these colors on the Branding screen, your elements set to Branding Colors will automatically update to the new color choice. |

Foreground |
Enter or select the foreground colour of the icon element. Brand Color 1 and Brand Color 2 appear in the color picker and contain color choices set on the Branding screen. If you change these colors on the Branding screen, your elements set to Branding Colors will automatically update to the new color choice. |
Width | Enter a pixel (px) or point (pt) value to set the width of the item. Set to auto to allow the item to automatically adjust based on viewer size. |
Height | Enter a pixel (px) or point (pt) value to set the height of the item. Set to auto to allow the item to automatically adjust based on viewer size. |
Corner Radius | Adjust the slider to increase or decrease the corner rounding of the icon. At the lowest end of the slider, the icon will be square. At the highest, the icon will be circular. |
Show Glass | Check to display a 3D 'glassy' effect on the icon. Uncheck to display icon as flat and matte. |
Hyperlink properties
Hyperlink properties are used to apply a hyperlink to the icon.
Destination URL | Enter the URL to use in the hyperlink. |

Alt Text | Enter alternate text to be shown if this icon cannot be displayed. |
Visibility properties
Visibility properties are used to adjust when the item appears.
Always visible | Select to ensure the item is always visible in the signature. |

Auto-hiding separator | Select to only make the item visible when there are other visible, non-separator items before and after it in the same group. |
Visible when | Select to set conditions under which an item becomes visible. |
Alignment properties
Alignment properties are used to determine the horizontal and vertical alignment of the item.
Horizontal | Select Left, Center, or Right to set the horizontal alignment. |

Vertical | Select Top, Center, or Bottom to set the vertical alignment. |
Border properties
Border properties are used to set borders on the item.

Check All the same to enable the All border properties. Select line style, line width, and line colour to apply to all sides of the item. Brand Color 1 and Brand Color 2 appear in the color picker and contain color choices set on the Branding screen. If you change these colors on the Branding screen, your elements set to Branding Colors will automatically update to the new color choice. |

Uncheck All the same to enable individual border properties for Left, Right, Top, and Bottom. Select line style, line width, and line colour to apply to each side of the item. If you change these colors on the Branding screen, your elements set to Branding Colors will automatically update to the new color choice. |
Padding properties
Padding properties are used to define spacing for the item.
All | Check All the same to enable the All padding properties. Enter either a pixel or point value to apply padding to all sides of the item. |
