Working with the Social Media Strip signature element

Description 

The Social Media Strip element is a group of icons with hyperlinks for social media channels that you can personalize and add to your email signature.

Benefits of adding Social media links in an email signature: 

  • Helps increase your social presence and engagement with customers.
  • Encourages more people to follow you.
  • Sends more traffic to your website.
  • Helps to increase your SEO rankings and ultimately grow your customer base.
  • Boosts your marketing initiatives and helps increase your brand awareness.

To include Social Media Links onto your email signature, simply drag and drop the Social Media Strip element to the desired location on the signature/gridded background. Once you have dropped the Social Media Strip element onto your canvas, you can customize them to suit your organization's requirements.

How to access it?

To access the Social Media Strip signature element:

  1. Open the signature (in the Signature Designer) to which you wish to add the Social Media Strip element.
    For more information, see how you can select a signature to edit.

  2. From the left-hand side toolbox, expand Social Media and select the Social Media Strip element.

Adding a Social Media Strip element 

To add a Social Media Strip element to the signature: 

  1. Drag and drop the Social Media Strip element at the required location on your canvas.

Setting the social media icons to add to your signature

To set social media icons for the signature:

  1. In the Social Media Strip window, from Icon drop-down list, select the required icon you wish to display in your signature.

  2. In Link, you can either enter the URL link or select a link from the placeholder links provided.

    If the required URL is the same for everyone in your organization, you can update the placeholder links with the required link. However, if these accounts vary by user and account details are stored in the user details field for your email service (example, Active Directory for Microsoft 365; Google Directory for Google Workspace), you can add this field to the URL.

    To do this, position the cursor at the end of the URL (after the forward-slash) and type an open curly bracket. For example: https://www.facebook.com/{. This displays a list of available attribute fields from which you can make your selection.

  3. In Alt, by default, an alternate text that will be displayed against the icon in your signature is provided. If required, you can edit it.

  4. Click OK to confirm the changes else, click Cancel.
Adding another icon to the Social Media Strip

To add more social media icons to the strip:

  1. In the Social Media Strip window, click ADD {FIELD}.
  2. Another row is added to the existing row.

  3. You can add as many fields as you want. If you change your mind later, you can always delete individual fields.

  4. As required, select the Icon and enter the Link.

  5. Click OK to confirm the changes else, click Cancel.
Removing an icon from the Social Media Strip 

To remove an icon from the Social Media Strip:

  1. Click the icon against the field you wish to remove.

  2. Click OK to confirm the changes else, click Cancel.

To choose how the icons will display on your signature:

  1. Select Horizontal to display your social media icons horizontally in your email signature.

  2. Select Vertical, to display your social media icons vertically in your email signature..

  3. Click OK to confirm the changes else, click Cancel.
Defining individual social media icon properties

To define how the social media icon will look in your email signature:

When you add or edit an icon, the social media icon properties are displayed on the right-hand pane.

Background Enter or select the background colour of the icons.  
Foreground Enter or select the foreground colour of the icons.
Width

Enter the width value you want for the icon.

You can select the value in pixels or points.
Height

Enter the height value you want for the icon.

You can select the value in pixels or points.
Corner Radius As required, move the slider to increase or decrease the corner of the social media icon.
If the slider is set to the minimum setting, the icon will be square, but if the slider is set to the maximum setting, the icon will be round.
Show Glass Select to display the social media icon in a glassy finish.
If not selected, the social media icon will have a flat appearance.

 

 

Next Steps: Once you have added the social media channels and confirmed the layout, you need to define the properties.

By default, all group fields (such as Address {Fields}, Contact {Fields}, Personal {Fields}, All {Fields} or Social Media Strip) inherit group properties - this means that if you want to make any changes, then you make changes to the group. But, you can always make changes to the individual fields and define their properties as well. Depending upon the element type you've added (such as Address {Fields}, Contact {Fields}, Personal {Fields}, All {Fields} or Social Media Strip), the number of tabs within the group properties will slightly vary.
