When designing your signature template, it is essential to understand the pros and cons of using custom fonts and font stacks:

Custom Fonts:

Custom fonts are a group of fonts that vary from the standard web-safe fonts that are recommended by Exclaimer.

These fonts can be uploaded from an .otf (open type file) or .ttf (true type file) - you can add fonts like Roboto.
  • Allows a font to be uploaded and embedded into the template.

  • Font can be seen by all mail clients, recipients and devices.

  • Allows for extra customization to the template.
  • Renders as a bitmap image.

  • Can be removed on a forward/reply email.

  • Hyperlinks may not work in Outlook when using the client-side.

  • Quality can vary.

Font Stacks:

Font stacks are used to control how the font will appear to the recipient if they do not have access to your chosen font.
  • Allows you to use a custom font without uploading it and rendering it as an image.

  • Allows you to control which fonts to fall back on if the font is not available.

  • Easy to customize.
  • The first font will not be seen if the recipient’s environment doesn’t have the font installed.
