Scenario
You are designing your signature template and want to add an icon, either using the Icons element or the Social Media Icon element. However, the collection of icons does not have the icon image you want, or the icon for the social media you want to use.
Resolution
You can use the Image/Logo element to upload a custom icon image, then use the element properties to mimic an icon style. You can also add a hyperlink to the image, for example to connect to your social media in the same way as the Social Media Icon element.
Step 1 - Add a custom icon to the template
To add a custom icon:
- Open your signature in the Signature Designer.
- Add an Image/Logo element to your template where you would like the icon to be.
Drag and drop the element to where you would like it to be on the canvas.
- EITHER:
If using a linked image for your icon, select the New linked image radio button and enter the URL for your image in the entry field.
OR
If using an embedded image for your icon, select the New embedded image radio button, then select Upload Image and choose your image file.
For more information on adding images, see Working with the Image/Logo signature element.
Upload or link your custom icon image.
- Select OK. This adds your icon image to the template.
- In the Properties pane, expand the Size section.
- Enter or adjust the Width and/or Height of the image until it is the appropriate size for an icon.
Tip! Set one value to auto to automatically scale the image as you adjust the other value.
Adjust the image to icon size.
- Select Save Changes to save your template.
Step 2 [Optional] - Add a hyperlink to the icon
Tip! For a dynamic hyperlink that changes depending on the user, see How to add a dynamic hyperlink (URL) to a signature element.
To add a hyperlink to the icon:
- Select the icon on the canvas.
- In the Properties pane, expand the Hyperlink section.
- In the Destination URL field, enter the URL of the web page you want the icon to link to.
Add your URL to make your icon a hyperlink.
- Select Save Changes to save your template.
