Scenario
You are using Exclaimer and have designed your signatures. Within the Recipients tab, you have specified that the signature should be applied to emails sent to internal or external recipients rather than any recipient.
You have also chosen to include a particular recipient address or domain in the recipient rules. However, you notice that the signature is not being applied to the recipients specified in the include option.
Reason
When Exclaimer processes the recipient rules, the Type of recipient rules are processed before the Optional inclusions and exclusions rules.
This means that, for example, if you have configured a signature to apply to messages sent to internal recipients, and you have also specified an external domain in the include rules, the signature will not be applied to the external domain as Exclaimer will recognize the signature as only for use on internal emails.
Resolution
To resolve this, you need to make sure the Type of recipient includes or matches the included recipients.
- Open the Recipients tab in the Manage screen for your signature.
- Under Type of recipient, select EITHER
All Recipients (Internal and External): This covers both internal and external recipients.
OR
Internal Only: Select this option if the recipient(s) you want to Include is also internal.
OR
External Only: Select this option if the recipient(s) you want to Include is also external.
- Select
Add Inclusion to enable the text box.
- Enter the recipient's email address or @domain.
TIP! You can also use wildcard (*) when entering an email address or domain name. Wilcard represents any available characters attached to the complete text. Exclaimer allows for any amount of characters to be susbtituted for wildcard.
Some examples using wildcard are:
*@greenorg.net - this would include any email addresses that are followed by '@greenorg.net'.
@exclaimer.* - this would include any domains attached to exclaimer email addresses.
@*.de - this would include any domains that are followed by .de.
The Recipients tab. Selecting Add Inclusion enables the inclusion entry field.
- Select
Add Inclusion to add another email address or domain.
- Select the bin icon
to delete the selected inclusion email address or domain.
- Select Save Changes to commit your recipient rules.
The signature will now be applied to the domains specified in the Include rules.
