Scenario
You have configured Exclaimer for Apply to email from all devices including mobiles (Server-Side signatures) and have noticed that the mail flow rule Identify messages to send to Exclaimer has the option Stop processing more rules.
You have concerns that your other mail flow rules may not be processed due to this and are wondering whether this can be disabled.
Resolution
We recommend that Stop processing more rules is enabled for the Identify messages to send to Exclaimer mail flow rule and can confirm that this will not stop your other rules from being processed.
- Due to the complexities of email flow in Exchange Online, emails don't always follow the priority assigned to mail flow rules. The Stop processing more rules option is important if you make use of any other third-party services to which your email is routed, as this option ensures that your emails are processed by Exclaimer first before being sent externally. Additionally, this option prevents footers (applied by mail flow rules) from being applied to the email twice.
- As email flows from Microsoft 365 to Exclaimer, then back to Microsoft 365, the rules are evaluated twice. An exception on the Exclaimer mail flow rule means that an email will not match the conditions of the rule the second time it is evaluated, and therefore Stop processing more rules has no effect the second time around. Due to this, the other mail flow rules that you have will be processed once the email returns from Exclaimer.
