Scenario
You would like to know more about Domain-based Message Authentication (DMARC) and how Exclaimer works with it.
Resolution
DMARC is an email authentication policy that uses the Sender Policy Framework (SPF) and DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) authentication checks. Where supported, it allows the sender's organization to determine how the recipient's mail server handles the message in the event of an authentication failure.
If the SPF and DKIM checks pass, the DMARC result will pass.
DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is an authentication method that helps protect both email recipients and email senders from forged and phishing emails.
Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is a protocol used to prevent spammers from sending emails with forged ‘From’ addresses at your domain.
Do I need to do anything to make Exclaimer work with DMARC?
For the DMARC policy and the DKIM checks, you do not need to make any changes to use Exclaimer.
For Server-Side signatures to pass the SPF check, you need to update the SPF record for each sender domain. For more information, see how to update the Sender Policy Framework (SPF).
