Why do the signature images not display or re-size when the mail client window size changes in Mac Mail?

Scenario

You are using Exclaimer and have created an email signature. When viewing the signature in Apple Mail, the images are not displayed or re-sized when the client's window size changes. 

Reason

This issue is caused by Apple Mail itself; however, this can be fixed within Exclaimer.

This issue arises because of the default 'Auto' sizing set on the images.. The mail client uses the Auto setting to re-size the images based on the screen /window size. 

The Auto functionality behaves correctly in all other mail clients. 

Resolution

NOTE: The steps described here assume that you have already created an email signature. For more information, see how you can create a signature.

To resolve the issue:

  • Set a fixed width and height to the image itself to prevent other issues from occurring.

    Ideally, this should be the same width and height as the original image size.

    For example, if the image is 291 x 222 px, then set the same dimensions as the image in Exclaimer.
