Scenario
You are using Exclaimer Cloud, and you would like the telephone numbers within the signature template to be clickable - this will allow recipients to call the number from within the signature.
Resolution
Exclaimer Cloud has a click to call function, which is, by default, set up when using the Contact {Fields} element.
To manually add the hyperlink, please click on the required options listed below to go through the detailed description:
NOTE: The steps described here assume that you have already created an email signature. For more information, see how you can create a signature.
The click to call function works on mobile devices and desktops, provided they have the required applications installed, such as Skype or Skype for Business.

Add Click to call function (static number)
This is for a generic number that all users will have.
- Open the required signature template within the Signature Designer.
- Insert a text box into your signature.
- Type the telephone number into the Text Box, then highlight the number.
Example: - From the right-hand side Properties pane, expand the Text section.
- Click ADD HYPERLINK. The Hyperlink window is displayed.
Hyperlink properties are used to apply a hyperlink to the selected element.
- In the Destination URL, enter the tel: command, followed by your number.
Example:
NOTE: If the telephone number has been entered manually, try to remove any spaces and parentheses "()". - Click OK to save the changes made and close the Hyperlink window.
Add Click to call function (dynamic number)
This uses one of the Exclaimer Cloud fields to populate numbers for each user (the contact fields already have this applied, see Contact {Fields} element for more information).
- Open the required signature template within the Signature Designer.
- Insert a text box into your signature.
- Type { and select the required field. In this case it's {telephone}.
Example:
- Once the field has been added, from the right-hand side Properties pane, expand the Text section.

Example - select the telephone field:
- Click OK to save the changes made and close the Hyperlink window.
Add Click to call function with Extension number
This is to add an extension number to the current dynamic telephone number for each user, and it is pretty straightforward.
Please follow the steps described in Adding Click to call function (dynamic number) section.
Then,
Please follow the steps described in Adding Click to call function (dynamic number) section.
Then,
- Select the telephone number in the signature designer. The HyperLink window is displayed
- In the Destination URL, add a comma at the end of the telephone number. This will pause, allowing the phone system to ring at least once. Multiple commas will serve as more pauses allowing the phone system to ring further.
Example:
- After the comma, add the extension field. Type { and select the required field. This can be any field you are looking to use within Exclaimer Cloud.
Example - after the comma, type { :
Example - enter the required field: - Click OK to save the changes made and close the Hyperlink window.
WARNING! If the phone does not have an automated answering system, this will not work. The pause allows the phone line to ring into the automated system, allowing the extension to be then dialled.
Also, Click to call with an extension does not work for the Samsung Galaxy S7 (as tested on 13/09/2017)
