Installing Exclaimer Exchange Transport Agent (on Windows Server Desktop Experience)

To make use of the Exchange On-Premises feature, you need to install the Exclaimer Exchange Transport Agent.


This article is a general guide for installing the Exclaimer Exchange Transport Agent on Windows Server Desktop Experience, and it consists of the following sections:

Pre-requisites

Before you install the Exclaimer Exchange Transport Agent, please ensure you have: 
  • Windows Server 2012 and up
  • Exchange 2013 CU22+, Exchange 2016 CU18+ and Microsoft Exchange 2019 CU7+
  • A configured Exclaimer Cloud: Signatures for Office 365 Subscription
  • Azure AD Connect configured and synchronizing
  • A Domain Administrator account
  • PowerShell 4 and .Net Framework 4.7.2 installed

Retrieving the Exclaimer Exchange Transport Agent

Follow these steps to retrieve the Exclaimer Transport Agent: 

  1. Click the Download link highlighted below (Exclaimer Exchange Transport Agent) to download the latest version of the Exclaimer Exchange Transport Agent onto your computer, then copy the downloaded files to each of your mailbox servers.



  2. Click New Key, to create a new API Key.



    The Add API Key window is displayed.

  3. Enter a descriptive name for the new API Key.
  4. Click OK to create the key, else click Cancel to close the window without creating the new key.

    The new API Key is displayed in the API Keys list.
    Tip! 
    At this stage,     copy the API key to a Notepad as the API Key is displayed in full. Once you exit from this window the API key is encrypted and you cannot copy it. And, once it is encrypted, the only solution to proceed with the installation is to create a new API key. You will need the API key when you enter the parameter details for installation.

    You can also copy the Service Uri to a Notepad as this will make it easy for you to copy the path when you enter the parameter details installation.

    This concludes the steps you need to do on the portal. 

Installing the Exclaimer Transport Agent

Follow these steps to install the Exclaimer Exchange Transport Agent on Windows Server Desktop Experience:

  1. Run the Microsoft Installer (MSI) from the desktop. 

    The Exclaimer Cloud Signatures for Exchange Setup wizard is displayed:



  2. Click Next to continue.

  3. Enter the required folder destination where to install the Exclaimer Cloud Signatures for Exchange.
  4. Click Next to continue.

    -     In Exclaimer Imprint Front End Service Url, enter the Service Uri.

    - In API Key, enter the tenant's access token.

    Note: For more information on the Service Uri and API key, see Exclaimer Cloud - Signatures for Exchange.
  5. Click Next to continue.

  6. Select the required option:
     
    - All: Select to have all users emails imprinted.

    - Restricted to senders: Select to have specific sender's emails imprinted. Enter full email addresses. Multiple addresses can be separated by spaces, commas or semi-colons.

    - Restricted to group: Select to have specific group member's emails imprinted. Enter group names. Multiple groups can be separated by spaces, commas or semi-colons.
  7. Click Next to continue, then click Install to continue with the installation.

    A warning message box is displayed, prompting that the Microsoft Exchange Transport Service will be restarted during the installation.

    - Click Yes to continue with the installation, else click No to abort the installation process. 

  8. Click Finish once the installation is complete to exit from the Setup Wizard.

    Note: Once the Exclaimer Exchange Transport Agent has been successfully installed, you can now start creating your email signature.
