Scenario

You would like the telephone numbers within the signature template to be clickable. This will allow recipients to call the number by clicking on the telephone number in the signature.

The click to call function works on mobile devices and desktops, provided they have the required applications installed, such as Skype or Skype for Business.

Resolution

Exclaimer Cloud sets this feature up by default when using the Contact Block tool. However, if you add a telephone number manually by dragging a text box and typing the telephone number, this hyperlink is not added.

To manually add the hyperlink, follow the steps outlined below: 

• Click to call function (standard)
• Click to call function (dynamic number)
• Click to call function with Extension number

Click to call function (static number)

This is a generic number that all users would have.

1. Insert a text box into your signature.
   
   
2. Type the telephone number into the Text Box, then highlight the number.
   
   
3. Click the Add Hyperlink option.
   
   
4. Insert the tel: command, followed by your number into the Destination URL:

   Caution: If the telephone number has been entered manually, try to remove any spaces and parentheses "()"

Click to call function (dynamic number)

This will use one of the Exclaimer Cloud fields to populate numbers for each user.

1. Insert a text box into your signature.
   
   
2. Start typing the "{" and select your chosen field.
   
   
3. Once the field has been added, select the field again and ensure it is fully highlighted.
   
   
4. Click the Add Hyperlink option.
   
   
5. Insert the tel: command, followed by your number into the Destination URL:

Adding an extension number to the current telephone number that is dynamic for each user is fairly straightforward.

Using the steps above to get started, you will simply need to add the following to achieve this:

1. Select the already made telephone number and click Edit Hyperlink.
   
   
2. At the end of the telephone number add a comma, - this will act as a pause allowing the phone system to ring at least once. Multiple commas will act as more pauses allowing the phone system to ring further.
   
   
3. After the comma, you will need to add your extension field. This can be any field you are looking to use within Exclaimer Cloud.
