Customer Thermometer is a great way to gain feedback on the services your company provides. It is an important tool to help some of the vital teams within your organization, to name a few: the Service Desk, Helpdesk, Customer Support teams, Success Teams to get more feedback from customers and staff.

Creating a Customer Thermometer
The following points outline a brief summary of the steps you need to perform in the Customer Thermometer UI:
- Create an Exclaimer embedded thermometer; this includes designing your survey template.
- Add custom fields (with Exclaimer variables) to help identify data about the recipient and the sender.
- Set email alert notifications to the required internal recipients.
- Design a landing page for your survey; this is the page that will appear when a recipient clicks on an icon.
- Add a response driver; based on customer feedback you can pinpoint areas that need improving or rewarding within your organization.
- Click Copy code to clipboard to paste your signature survey into the Exclaimer Signature Designer or link your Customer Thermometer account with your Exclaimer Cloud account and select the required signature survey from the drop-down list.
Adding Customer Thermometer to your signature
You can add a Customer Thermometer to your email signature by using any one of the two methods described below:

Option 1: By linking your Customer Thermometer subscription to your Exclaimer Cloud subscription via an API key, or
- Option 2: By pasting the Customer Thermometer survey into the Exclaimer Signature Designer.
Option 1: Link your Customer Thermometer subscription to your Exclaimer Cloud subscription
Follow these steps to add a Customer Thermometer to your email signature via an API key:

Drag and drop the Customer Thermometer element (under Surveys) onto the required signature design.
The Customer Thermometer window is displayed:
- In the space provided, enter your Customer Thermometer API key then click Connect.
Note:
- The API Key links your Customer Thermometer subscription with your Exclaimer Cloud subscription.
- You only need to link your account once. By default, the entered API Key is always connected.
- Once the API key has been successfully connected, you will see a list of all your customer thermometers (which you designed in the Customer Thermometer UI) in the drop-down list.
- Select the required Customer Thermometer you wish to add to your email signature (or click Create new to create a new Customer Thermometer in the Customer Thermometer UI).
- Based on the Customer Thermometer you select, the HTML contents (icons and survey text) will change accordingly.
- By default, Embed images is selected.
The maximum size of the image you can embed is 150KB.
- Click OK to save the template and close the window.
You can now view the Customer Thermometer in the preview pane:
Option 2: Paste the Customer Thermometer survey into the Exclaimer Signature Designer
Follow these steps to paste the Customer Thermometer into the Exclaimer Signature Designer:

Drag and drop the Customer Thermometer element (under Surveys) onto the required signature design.
The Customer Thermometer window is displayed:
- Paste the Customer Thermometer survey text and icons (which you designed in the Customer Thermometer UI) into the space provided:
- By default, Embed images is selected.
The maximum size of the image you can embed is 150KB.
- Click OK to save the template and close the window.
You can now view the Customer Thermometer in the preview pane:
Setting up Customer Thermometer properties
Once you have successfully embedded the Customer Thermometer onto your Signature, you can define its Visibility properties:
Visibility properties are used to determine the circumstances under which this Customer Thermometer should/should not be displayed:
Always visible | The default setting is to always display the Customer Thermometer. |
Auto-hiding separator | This option is only applicable for elements where multiple fields are defined on a single line, separated by a character (such as a comma or a pipe), and you wish to hide separators if no user data is present. |
