Description
Signature elements (such as Address {Fields}, Contact {Fields}, Personal {Fields}, All {Fields} or Social Media Strip) are groups of individual fields. This means that when you add any of these elements to your signature design, you add a series of fields that are grouped together for convenience and because they go together. An important point to note is that by updating the group properties you can very easily set the properties of multiple elements in one go.
In Exclaimer Cloud, a group is indicated by a red border like this:
By default, all group elements inherit group properties, which determine how the fields within the group look and behave; for example, the appearance of the text, alignment, borders and so on.
If you want to make any changes then you can make changes to the group, which will reflect on all the fields. But, you can also make changes to the individual fields and define their properties as well. See Understanding hierarchies and inheritance for more information.
When you add a group element to your signature design, the group properties are displayed on the right-hand side of the screen.
The below screen displays the group properties for Address {Fields}:
Depending upon the element type you've added (Address {Fields}, Contact {Fields}, Personal {Fields}, All {Fields} or Social Media Strip), the number of tabs within the group properties will slightly vary.
The following are the (commonly used) group properties - please click on the required options listed below to go through the detailed description:
Text properties are used to determine the appearance of any text that you add to the selected field:
Font Family | From the drop-down, select the font style you want to use in your signature. By default, the selected font style is 'inherit' - leave this font if you want to inherit the font style from the parent element. |
---|---|
Manage | Click to select custom fonts. Click Upload Font to upload any custom fonts you want to include in your signature. |
Font size | From the drop-down, select the font size you want to use in your signature. You can select the font size in pixels or points. By default, the selected font size is 'inherit' - leave this if you want to inherit the font size from the parent element. |
Text Colour | Enter a value to change the colour of the selected text within your signature. You can also select the colour from the colour picker. |
Line Height | From the drop-down, select the required value for the line-height you want to use in your signature. You can select the line-height value in pixels or points. By default, the selected line-height value is 'inherit' - leave it if you want to inherit it from the parent element. |
Background properties are used to define the background of the selected field:
None | Select No to select no background colour for the text field. |
---|---|
Colour | Select Colour to select a colour for the text field. You can either enter the colour code or select the required colour from the colour picker. |
Image | Select to apply the background as an image. |
Linked Image URL | Select then enter the URL of the image you want to link as a background image. |
Upload Image | Click to upload a background image for the text field. NOTE: When you select a background image, the entire signature will be rendered (and applied) as a bitmap image (not HTML). |
Visibility properties are used to determine the circumstances under which the selected field should/should not be displayed:
Always visible | By default, Always visible is selected. This means that the selected field will always be visible on the signature. |
---|---|
Auto-hiding separator | Select this option where multiple fields are defined on a single line (example: Address {Field} elements), separated by a character (such as a comma or a pipe); and you want to hide separators if no user data is present. |
Visible when | Select to define the conditions when the selected field needs to be visible on the signature. |
Alignment properties are used to determine the horizontal and vertical alignment of the selected text:
Text | Select one of the required options to align the selected text within the signature. The different options are: Left, Center, Right, Justify or Inherit. Inherit means inheriting the text alignment from the parent element. |
---|---|
Horizontal | Select one of the required options to horizontally align the field within the signature. The different options are: Left, Center, Right, Justify or Stretch. |
Vertical | Select one of the required options to vertically align the field within the signature. The different options are: Top, Center, Bottom. |
Border properties are used to define borders for the selected field:
All | Select border properties from the options available, then select All the same to ensure that all borders (left, right, top and bottom) within the signature have the same properties. By default, no border is applied, and the border size is set to zero (0). |
---|---|
Left / Right / Top /Bottom | Select individual border properties (left, right, top and bottom). These options are enabled if All the same option is not selected. |
Padding properties are used to define spacing for the selected field:
All | Select padding properties you want to apply (left, right, top and bottom) across the selected field from the options available. Select All the same to ensure that the selected field has the same padding throughout. You can select the padding in pixels or points. By default, no padding is applied. |
---|---|
Left / Right / Top /Bottom | Select individual padding settings for left, right, top and bottom. These options are enabled if All the same option is not selected. |
Size properties are used to define the size of the selected field:
Width | By default, the width is set to auto. This means that the field will adjust its width depending on the size of the message viewer. If required, you can also enter the exact width for the selected field - in pixels or points. |
---|---|
Height | By default, the height is set to auto. This means that the field will adjust its height depending on the size of the message viewer. If required, you can also enter the exact height for the selected field - in pixels or points. |
Render properties are used to determine how the signature is rendered in messages:
Normal | By default, the normal render setting for the signature is HTML. |
---|---|
Bitmap | Select to render the signature as a bitmap image. In this case, any externally linked images will be embedded in the signature, and text will not wrap unless the width of the field is fixed (that is, not set to auto). |
Orientation properties are used to determine the orientation of the fields within the signature:
Horizontal | Select to display the fields horizontally within the signature. |
---|---|
Vertical | Select to display the fields vertically within the signature. |
