The Template Editor is used to design and build the required signature content and layout. Whether you have a new 'blank' signature, or you are starting with an existing template, the design techniques are the same.
When you begin, you can either adapt some of the existing signatures in the Template Library or create a brand new template from scratch.

Adding a new template
To add a new signature, ensure you are inside one of the folders in the Template Library tree on the left-hand side, then click New.
A window with a blank template is displayed.
From here you can start to build your signature using tables, images, fields and other elements available in the editor.
Alternatively, if the Exclaimer Template Design Team has built a signature for you, please follow the Import Guide on how to import the signature into the template library.
There are three versions of the signature. Each has their own preview and are designed to work in different ways.
The HTML Design View is the first tab in the Template Editor. Here you can use HTML Tables to layout the signature, as well as add images, fields and other content as required. You can also style the fields by using the field properties and/or the font properties at the top of the editor.
By using the Source View you can see the HTML code that has been generated for your template. Here, you can edit the source code to apply font stacks, colours, padding and so on.
We discourage copying and pasting source code from other HTML sources as the code may not be supported by the Template Editor and mail clients.
This can cause merge clash errors as well as other issues with the template and may prevent the signature from being editable. Instead, we recommend you use the Design View to build the signature, using HTML tables and padding where possible.
The preview of the signature will show how it will look when an email has been received.
Rich Text Signature
The Rich Text version of the signature is a basic form of the HTML version. It is strongly recommended to only use the text and Active Directory fields used in the HTML signature.
You should avoid using images in the Rich Text signature as this can cause multiple issues with the template. Some mail clients may not be able to process this correctly and may cause the signature template to break.
The fields can be styled using the Field properties. Please ensure you use standard Web Safe Fonts such as Arial, Calibri, Verdana and so on as non-standard fonts may not be compatible with the editor.
You can also set colours and standard font styling to the Rich Text. This can be achieved by using the Field properties or the text settings at the top of the editor window.
Plain Text Signature
The Plain Text version of the signature template is the most simple form of the signature design. All hyperlinks will be shown in full and fields cannot be styled with any fonts or colours.
