To describe what inherit value is, let's look at this scenario:
You have set the fonts, font sizes and colours in the signature template; however, when you click on the text, everything or parts of the text are set to 'Inherit'.
There are many places to add fonts, font sizes and colours when building signature templates.

Properties
Text properties are used to determine the appearance of text within grouped items:
| Font Family | From the drop-down, select the font style you want to use in your signature. By default, the selected font style is 'inherit' - leave this font if you want to inherit the font style from the parent element. |

| Font size | From the drop-down, select the font size you want to use in your signature. You can select the font size in pixels or points. By default, the selected font size is 'inherit' - leave this if you want to inherit the font size from the parent element. |
| Text Colour | Enter a value to change the colour of the selected text within your signature. You can also select the colour from the colour picker. |
| Line Height | From the drop-down, select the required value for the line height you want to use in your signature. You can select the line-height value in pixels or points. By default, the selected line-height value is 'inherit' - leave it if you want to inherit it from the parent element. |
The Signature canvas
This is the default area for fonts, font sizes and colours. The Signature canvas is the first level of your signature hierarchy, and it has its own set of properties.
This is the overall parent element - any properties applied at this level are inherited by elements that you add subsequently. You can, of course, define properties for any elements (that is, children) that you add (thus overriding inheritance from any parents), and as the structure evolves, other elements will become parents themselves.
For example, if you add a table to the signature, properties can be defined for the table as a whole (the parent), and/or for individual cells within it (in turn, any elements added to cells can inherit properties from a table cell, or have their own properties defined).
Signature tables
When you add or edit any table, table properties are displayed. You can access this by clicking on the Yellow border of the table:
These properties define how the table will look and behave. Any content added to the cells may inherit these properties. However, you can edit properties for those items to override inheritance from the table.
Table cells
When you add or edit any table cell, table cell properties are displayed - you can access this by clicking on the Green border of the table cells:
These properties define how the table cells look and behave. Any content added to the cells may inherit these properties. However, you can edit properties for those items to override inheritance from the table.
Signature Groups
When you add or edit any group, the group properties are displayed. You can access this by clicking on the Red border of the group:
These properties define how the group of elements look and behave. Any content added to the group may inherit these properties. However, you can edit properties for those items to override inheritance from the group.
Text boxes
When you add or edit any text element, the text properties are displayed. You can access this by clicking on the Blue border of the text box:
These properties define how the text looks and behaves. Any content added to the text box may inherit these properties.
